I can’t remember the last time I wore work pants. It was definitely before kids and when my hips were probably a size smaller! Work pants have always been one of the hardest clothing styles to find for me as something was always not quite right — the thighs would be too tight, the length would be too long, my legs would look like sausages… you get the picture! 
In the past year of working more from home, a lot of my outfits have included leggings of some sort. But now that I’m venturing into the office more, I needed a more work-appropriate option that still gave me the comfort of leggings but looked more professional — aren’t we all? While shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale the other day, I noticed that Spanx had a “Perfect Pant” style that looked extremely promising: petite sizing, thick smoothing ponte fabric, and a high-waisted rise that would help elongate and suck everything in! I immediately ordered my usual size (XS Petite) and y’all, this really is THE PERFECT PANT!!
How Do The Spanx Perfect Pants Fit?
Let me start off by saying that it is an absolute rarity when pants fit me right off the rack. Pants are almost always too long given that I’m only 5′ tall with super short legs and even petite sizing can be an issue at times for me. But wow, thank you Spanx as their Petite sizing is spot on — these ankle pants actually end right at my ankles!! The petite inseam is 23.5″ (perfect if you’re 5’4″ and under like me!) while the regular inseam is 26″ and the tall is 28″ (recommended for 5’9″ and above).
I also immediately fell in love with the thicker ponte fabric that is different than any other ponte fabric that I’ve worn before. These pants have an incredible 4-way stretch yet are also super supportive. The fabric doesn’t feel constricting at all (nothing like shapewear) yet it still manages to smooth out those awkward lumps to create a really leg-lengthening effect! The waistband is a pull-on style that makes it easy to get on and accentuates your curves instead of creating weird bulges, plus the high-rise prevents any potential for muffin top. And rest assured, there is also Spanx’s Slim Gut Check shaping technology built in so no more worrying about that tummy!
Do These Pants Actually Look Like Work Pants?
I was initially a bit wary that these pants wouldn’t look like professional work pants but my fears were dismissed once I put these on. There are style details such as faux front and back pockets, plus piping down the side and a seam down the back. Together, these details make the pants look really tailored and polished. The seam down the back pocket also draws the eye in and honestly, I feel like it makes everything look a little perkier!
I did style these pants with a belt but note that there aren’t belt loops included with these pants. I personally don’t find that to be a deal breaker as the belt addition is really just for aesthetics with these pants (I wear it as an accessory instead of functionally needing the belt, if that makes sense).
Did you notice the notch slit on the back pant hem? Not only do I find that detail very flattering when it comes to appearances, but it also helps these pants to have more stretch. I am able to sit and stand (and probably even do lunges!) without feeling like I need to constantly pull them down. Spanx really got all the details right when designing these pants!

Do These Have To Be Dry Cleaned?
Nope, no dry clean needed! The best part of these Spanx pants is that they’re machine washable! I can’t remember the last time I went to the dry cleaners and honestly, I don’t think I want the hassle of wearing clothes wear they require separate trips to get them cleaned anymore. I love that I can throw these pants into the wash along with the rest of my laundry and not worry about it! I personally did hang these pants up to dry instead of throwing them in the dryer as I was paranoid about any potential shrinkage and didn’t want anything to change in regards to the fit.
